Stone predominately plays Fender and Gibson guitars. That is, Fender Stratocasters & Telecasters and Gibson Les Pauls. These are all strung with GHS Boomers. This is one of Stone's many guitars. It is his 1968 refinished candy-apple red Fender Telecaster which has a vintage Fender Bigsby-style tremolo system. This particular guitar originally belonged to fellow Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready. It has become a standard part of Stone's touring and recording equipment. The guitar was manufactured by Fender with the tremolo as part of its original hardware. The only changes that were made to this guitar have been the inclusion of graphite bridge saddles and nut (this helps cut down on broken strings), new pots and pickup selector switch, and the usual conductive shielding paint in the pickup/electronics cavities to help reduce noise.
