DECEMBER 2007: JEREMY TOBACK - IT'S A BIG WORLD

Brad member Jeremy Toback and Renee Stahl's self-titled project have just released their first video from their album 'It's a Big World'.

It all started with a simple idea, really: to make kids' music that adults could enjoy, not just tolerate - a collection of original songs for parents who appreciate the likes of Jack Johnson, Nick Drake, and Aimee Mann. The result is a treasure chest of luminous harmonies and sophisticated lullabies. Quiet time music for the whole family to enjoy together.

Here's the song 'Night Mantra' performed live...

From the moment Renee and Jeremy became a duo there musical energy has almost been palpable. The title track on 'It's a Big World' came to Jeremy on a walk with his 1-year-old son, Ezra - after wondering what life would be like through his eyes. And Renee crafted her haunting and minimalist lullaby, Powder Blue, out of her own meditations on motherhood before becoming one herself.

The duo vowed not to be afraid to let the odd minor key shade a little dark into the album's sunny canvas, and to have fun with their lyrics without straying from the underlying positive message.

Check out their Renee and Jeremy's website or Facebook profile for more details.

OCTOBER 2006: THE MALFUNKSHUN LEGEND LIVES ON

Regan and Shawn have been in the studio working on an exciting new project together with Kevin Wood (Malfunkshun/Devilhead), Cory Kane (Satchel)...and Andrew Wood.

The band, tentatively called SUBFUNKSHUN, have eight tracks at this point including Never Proud, Another U, Duty Bound, He's a Mover, Morning and This Worlds Pain. One other song called The Great One includes Brian Wood (Devilhead/Hater) and the last song is a beautiful arrangement of Andy's Mother Love Bone song, Man of Golden Words. The possible album title, ‘Friendship Ring’ comes from a lyric in the song ‘Morning’. All the lyrics were written by Andy between 1980 and 1984. Some words, like those to 'He's a Mover' were written by a 14 year old Andy.

The band are going back into the studio on the 17th and 18th of this month to record some Malfunkshun tracks.

Brad vs Satchel tracklist is as follows...

4. Roll Over (2001 Brad session)

6. I Don't Know If...You'll (2001 Brad session)

9. I Must Confess (2001 Brad session)
10. Awake (2001 Brad session)

The 1997 Satchel sessions are from just after guitarist John Hoag left the band and Shawn stepped in to take up the guitar duties. All the 2001 Brad material is culled from the fruitful Welcome to Discovery Park sessions and which wouldn't fit on the final release. We actually played some of these songs live so some of you might be familiar with them.

Incidentally, two songs which did make the final cut onto Welcome to Discovery Park, Never Let Each Other Down and If You Could Make It Good are from the very same 1997 Satchel sessions. So that'll give you a feel for the first half of 'Brad vs Satchel'.

We'll have more details of the second Brad record very soon.
